The weekend is here and there are lots things to do this weekend in Orlando. While last weekend was a little sparse in terms of activities, this weekend the Orlando family activity scene is back in full force with parades honoring Martin Luther King Jr, festivals, arts and crafts and more.

Here are some of the fun family activities that you can take in this weekend:

Painting with a Twist – Kids 7 years and up and their families are invited to paint Cherry Blossoms at Painting with a Twist. Put brush to canvas and enjoy some bonding time as a family. Prior art experience not necessary!

Big & Little Chef – It’s Taco Night! Round your friends and family up and join the chefs for a taco fiesta in the Aprons kitchen at Publix.

Block Party Open House – Attend the Block Party Open House at Kids R Kids. There will be music, free food, a bounce house, games for children and families, prize drawings including a chance to Win 6 Months of FREE TUITION, gift Baskets and more! FREE

Bagels with Bogie – The Audubon Center of Birds of Prey of Bogie invites you for bagels! Join them before the Center opens at 9am on January 13th to have a bagel breakfast with bird ambassador, Bogie, a Great Horned Owl. Event includes breakfast, crafts and special opportunities for photos with Bogie.

Martin Luther King Jr. Celebrations

Jaycees 2018 MLK Holiday Parade –  The Southwest Orlando Jaycees cordially invites you to participate in the 34th Annual Downtown Orlando Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade. The theme for the 2018 parade celebration is “Remember, Celebrate, Act! King’s His Voice, His Teaching and His Love for humanity.” FREE

41st Eatonville MLK Jr. Parade – The MLK Jr. Parade brings the joys of community bond, unity and celebration among many local municipalities, churches, businesses, schools, and families within Central Florida to include others from visiting states. This annual parade hosted by Eatonville, in commemoration to The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. honors the memory and legacy of his life and contribution to equality, freedom and justice for all. Martin Luther King Day Parade at Lake Eola – The Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade is held every January in Downtown Orlando, FL in celebration of Dr. King’s Legacy of Peace with Justice for Our World! FREE

Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration – Come celebrate and honor this great leader of the civil rights movement. Enjoy entertainment, speakers, vendors, kids’ activities and much more! A community parade celebration will travel from East Bay Street to the Orlando Magic Gym. FREE

Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Celebration – Attend the fourth annual Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Celebration honoring the legacy of Dr. King and the ideals of unity, equality, diversity. This year’s events will showcase a parade running through Historic Downtown Kissimmee followed by a festival at Kissimmee Lakefront Park featuring performances by the House of Blues Orlando Gospel Brunch Band,CeCe Teneal, The Souliz Band, and DJ Nela. There will also be food, vendors, and a kids zone. FREE

Sunday, January 14

Free Family FUN-Day – Every second Sunday of the month is Free Family Funday!  Join us at the museum for free admission, a free miniature fine art project and free docent touring.  Each Free Family Funday has a different theme based on the current exhibition in the museum.  FREE

Monday, January 15

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade in Apopka Apopka presents their 9th annual parade to commemorate Dr. King, Jr. The theme is: “Celebrate Diversity, Embrace Unity!” FREE

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade in Sanford – The City of Sanford celebrates MLK Day with a parade in downtown Sanford. Afterwards, there will be a rally at Fort Mellon Park with entertainment, food and games. FREE

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration – Join the City of Oviedo and Oviedo Citizens in Action on Monday, as they celebrate and honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. FREE

MLK Day Unity Parade and Celebration – The “Dream Starts With Me” is the theme for the e City of Ocoee’s 12th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Parade and Celebration.
