I can’t believe that January has come to an end already. It seems like the new year just started. We definitely found a lot of fun things to do in Orlando in January, including seeing Marvel Adventures live, going to the Epcot International Arts Festival and attending Symphony Storytime. We have no firm plans yet for February, but we do plan to continue taking advantage of all that Orlando and its environs have to offer and I encourage you to do the same.

Multiple Days

Flora and Ulysses – Flora loves comic books, so it’s no surprise when an unassuming squirrel named Ulysses gets sucked up in the vacuum cleaner and pops out as a superhero – who can fly – and write poetry. Doubting adults have lots to learn from Flora, Ulysses, and their new friend, William, as they navigate matters of the heart in this 2014 Newbery Medal-winning eccentric adventure from Kate DiCamillo, adapted for the stage by John Glore. Ms. DiCamillo is also the author of The Miraculous Journey of Edward TulaneThe Tale of Despereaux, and Because of Winn-Dixie.

Orlando Science Center Museums on Us – The first full weekend of every month, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch cardholders get free admission to Orlando Science Center on Saturdays and Sundays through the Museums on Us program! Orlando Science Center features a variety of science centers for kids to explore and experiment.

Star Studded Evenings – Join us this fall and winter for Star-Studded Evenings! This is your chance to experience some of Orlando Science Center’s programming after dark. Stargaze in the Crosby Observatory and see a feature-length film for just $10 per person (free for OSC members)! Star-Studded Evenings are perfect for date night, or just a fun night out with the family!

Crescent Cinema: Beauty and the Beast – Step outside for our movie night in the park featuring films from all genres and generations. Featuring: Beauty and the Beast and sweet treats from Little Blue Donut Co. A bright, beautiful and independent young woman, is taken prisoner by a beast. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the beast’s hideous exterior, allowing her to recognize the kind heart and soul.

Middle School Blast – Goldenrod Recreation Center welcomes kids in Grades 6-8 for their Middle School Blast. They will enjoy games, music and more.

Owl Prowl – Join the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey for a sneak peek into what owls do at night. You’ll get to meet three species of owl ambassadors up close, participate in owl crafts, activities and learn how to search for owls in your own neighborhood by walking to a nearby park to look for wild owls.

Stick It Gymnastics Friday Night Bounce – Parents, enjoy the night out while the kids jump, flip, and twist the night away in our supervised trampoline area complete with 4 Olympic style trampolines, a foam pit, double mini trampoline, rod floor and tumble track. Our certified coaches will be on hand to ensure proper safety and correct jumping technique. Grab a friend and come check it out!

American Girl Mini Fondue Party – Hey Kids! Williams Sonoma is having a fondue party and you’re invited! In this class, you’ll all get our own Mini Fondue Set and then learn how to make chocolate fondue – perfect for dipping fresh fruit, marshmallows and more!

Between the Brushes: Kids Art Class – If you have a budding artist, then you will want to sign them up for a Between the Brushes Art Class. Classes are held each Saturday at the Art Room and each week is a different theme. This week’s theme is Friends.

DIY Valentine’s Box Making Party – Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and Valentine’s boxes are all the rage! Make sure yours is ready in time for the big day. Create a one of a kind monster box with Art in the Park Orlando.

Family Night Skate – Go to family night at Astro Skate for 3 hours of skating fun for the entire family. $20 for a family of 5 with one adult/$7 for an individual. Prices do not include skate rental.

Harry Potter Night at Books-A-Million – Join Books-A-Million for the first ever stateside Harry Potter Book Night Event! Wizarding enthusiasts of all ages are invited to celebrate J.K. Rowling’s enchanting series. Festivities will include trivia, cosplay, spell classes, magical creatures classes and more. Participating Potterheads will have the chance to earn stamps for their collectable Magical Passports and a vintage Harry Potter poster!

Home Depot Valentine Bean Bag Toss – Score points with your loved ones and build a Valentine bean bag toss in this hands-on workshop. You and your child can construct a fun bean bag toss game for the whole family to love. Following the bean bag toss game board construction, your child can decorate it with paint and stickers.

Painting With a Twist: Sparkle Unicorn – Painting With a Twist provides paint, canvas and brushes, and lots of encouragement. Come alone or grab a friend or two, bring your favorite snack and paint along with a fabulous local artist. At the end of the class, you’ll have a one-of-a-kind 16” x 20” acrylic on canvas masterpiece to take home.

Parents Night Out – Goldenrod Recreation Center welcomes kids in Grades K-5 for Parents Night Out. They will enjoy games, crafts, music and more.
