Who doesn’t love a good farmers market on the weekend?  The fresh air, fresh fruit, vegetables, plants, local flavors and good food make these markets so inviting.  I love taking my daughter to different farmers markets around town as we love seeing different sites and what the city has to offer.  Visiting farmers markets is technically a free activity, so take your child on fun adventures around the city to your local Orlando farmers market and enjoy the outdoors.

To make your trip a little more exciting for your child, try making a game out of it.  Try doing a scavenger hunt for things you may see at the market to look for or try to find things only in certain colors for fun.  My daughter usually just enjoys browsing the different vendors, but sometimes when she drags her feet, we have to spice up the market to make it more appealing to her little age.  Some of these markets, such as Winter Garden and Longwood’s Markets, are located near or not far from splash pads, so you may want to throw a bathing suit and a pool towel in a bag for the littles if you plan to let play in it.

Winter Garden

Celebrating 12 years of operation, Winter Garden Farmers Market is one of the best in town, though I may be biased.  I have been visiting this since its early days of only a few stands, to today a bustling market filled with lots of vendors.  The Historic town of Winter Garden hosts this weekly market where you can find local goodies both sweet and savory and fresh flowers, produce, plants, herbs, freshly baked sweets and artisanal crafts.  Something this market is doing to help keep shoppers extra safe during Covid-19, is offering curbside pickup, delivering your purchases right to your car.  You can also order many of these items online and for delivery so you don’t even need to visit the market in person.
