The list below will show you some of the best options for natural springs that would make a great day trip for you and the family. 

The best part about visiting natural springs in your area is that it’s a simple and free way to connect with nature and to get outside and explore. Plus, the kids will love being able to see the crystal-clear water of the springs and feel how cold it is to the touch, too.

Less than 1 Hour Away

Blue Spring State Park

If you’ve always wanted to try your hand at scuba diving, you can make it happen here. The spring has an opening that literally goes down 60 feet and then turns into an underwater cave. The cool part about the spring at Blue Spring State Park is that it’s not all that “cool” at all. The water is 73 degrees all year long and it’s a great place to explore and visit. 

You’ll find that this park is just shy of 40 miles outside of Orlando.

De Leon Springs State Park

De Leon Springs State Park is such a peaceful place to visit. The landscape of the park is beautiful, and the springs have been drawing people in to visit for hundreds of years. Some people feel like the springs are a way for them to relax and refocus. 

Rock Springs

Spend a fun day at Rock Springs if you get the chance! Grab a tube and go floating in the springs or just sit on the side with your feet in the water. With a water temperature that varies between 68-72 degrees, it’s a nice temperature to feel. 

Wekiwa Springs State Park

A short 45-minute car ride outside of Orlando and you’ll be at Wekiwa Springs State Park. Check out all the wildlife in the area or rest your body in one of the hammocks that are just waiting for you to use. The springs are beautiful here and there are several hiking trails that you’ll want to explore as well. 

1 hour to 1.5 Hours away

Alexander Springs

Talk about the clearest water, ever. With water staying at an awesome 72 degrees, it’s just a nice place to visit and see the bottom of the spring as well. Alexander Springs is also home to some pretty great wildlife spotting’s as well such as alligators and black bears. 

If you want to make a camping trip out of it, there are camping options available, too. Make certain to bring along your snorkel gear to get in some good swimming! 

Rainbow Springs State Park

Rainbow Springs State Park is located about an hour and a half away from Orlando, but it’s worth the trip. The clear and turquoise water will be calling your name and just might find yourself jumping right in! 

Salt Springs

A day trip to Salt Springs needs to be on your radar. Being able to see this spring is a sight that the kids are certain to love. Load up the car, pack a picnic lunch, and settle in for a day of exploring and adventure. 

Silver Glen Springs

Rent a canoe and get out on the water at Silver Glen Springs. This is quite a popular place so be ready for there to be a crowd. There is also a lot of interesting history to learn about that area as well so you could easily turn it into a homeschooling field trip, too! 

Silver Springs State Park

This is the most well-known spring located near Orlando. Silver Springs State Park has had more than 20 movies filmed at this location and people will take tour after tour on the glass bottom boat to be able to see deep down into the spring. 

Weeki Wachee Springs State Park 

Talk about unique! Weeki Wachee Springs State Park offers swimming and a super fun water park option as well! If you’re wanting a family outing that everyone will love, you don’t want to miss out on this location! 

As you can tell, Orlando and the surrounding areas have no shortage of springs. The beautiful part about Florida is that you can’t beat the nature offerings and places to explore.
