Have you ever hung off the side of a building? What about made one kid grow to six feet tall and the other shrink down to a tiny size? Ever put your child’s head on a platter? Ever want to? (well that’s a different story altogether). We did all these things and more the other day in Orlando. Truly we did! Well, at least our pictures looked like we did.  Where did we go? We visited the Museum of Illusions.

The Museum of Illusions Orlando

The Museum of Illusions Orlando is the newest attraction in Icon Park. As the name states it is a museum of illusions. There are 10 main exhibits inside where your family can take pictures creating your own optical illusions. In addition to the illusions stated above, we hung on a rock wall, climbed on the ceiling, danced in the color room, recreated a card game with multiple players and went through a spinning tunnel.

If you are looking for fun activities at a discount price check out the Orlando Sightseeing Pass. It’s great for both visitors and locals.

The Museum makes it easy to recreate the illusions, as it tells you exactly where to stand with floor markers, so your pictures turn out the right way. Stand in a different location and instead of the illusion you are trying to create, you would see all the secretes behind the “magic”. Some of the pictures are difficult to recreate on your own, and that is where the staff comes in. They tell you exactly where to go and how to pose to create the perfect illusion.

In addition to the main illusions, there are also additional smaller puzzles and optical illusions that are spread throughout the museum. What color is that painting? Depends on where you stand. Do the eyes on a painting follow you while you walk? They sure look like they do. While the main exhibits are the focus of the museum, my kids really enjoyed the smaller activities as they were more hands-on and they were able to do them without help.

Stay over at the Rosen Plaza or the Hyatt Regency Orlando for a great weekend getaway with the fam.

How much time should you allot for a visit to the Museum of Illusions Orlando?

The museum takes about 1 hour to 1.5 hours to complete. It really depends on how busy it is and how much time the kids want to spend on each activity.

What is there to do nearby the Museum of Illusions?

The Museum of Illusions is located in Icon Park. Before or after the visit you could take a ride on The Wheel and/or on The Starflyer. You could also play some arcade games at In the Game or take a ride around the park on a train. You can also visit Sea Life Aquarium or Madame Tussauds. Take the kids bowling at Kings Dining and Entertainment, which is located across the street from Icon Park. You could also grab something to eat at the many eateries in Icon Park including Blake Shelton’s restaurant Ole Red, Sugar Factory, Tapa Toro (they have a great flamenco show every night), Yard House and Shake Shack.
