Last weekend, my daughter and I enjoyed a getaway on the Navigator of the Seas. We had a great time exploring the ship and spending some quality time together. The Navigator of the Seas sails from Miami and is one of the few ships that does 3-night cruises out of Florida. We had a good time and would both recommend sailing on her. Here are 10 tips to make your trip on the Navigator of the Seas more enjoyable.

  1. Download the Royal app ahead of time and complete your check in on the app. You will be able to sail right through the terminal and board with ease. The app also comes in handy on board the ship. You are able to see everything that is happening on board and you can add them to your activities calendar in the app.

  2. Bring your bathing suit with you in your carry-on bag. My daughter and I had a quick lunch and then changed into our bathing suits to hit the water slides. The lines were pretty short and we are able to go multiple times. The Navigator of the Seas has a mat slide and a water coaster. The water coaster was our favorite of the to and we rode it multiple times.

  3. If you decide to do anytime dining, make reservations as it will keep you from having to stand in line when getting to the restaurant. Do this sooner rather than later as preferred dinind times between 6:30 and 8:00pm tend to go quickly.

  4. Don’t opt for the Virtual Balcony room expecting anything more than an Inside cabin. While it sounds good in theory, the picture on the virtual balcony was very grainy and was always focused on the side of the ship with anchor. We have done a virtual window on the Disney Dream and it was done much better there.

  5. Don’t show up to the shows extremely early to save a seat as it is not necessary. We got to both shows about 10 minutes before show time and there was still a lot of space left. That said, we recommend attending both the ice skating show and the variety show in the theater. They were both a lot of fun to watch.

  6. Bring closed toe shoes with you on your trip. My daughter had a great time playing laser tag, but because I didn’t have closed toe shoes, I wasn’t able to play with her. The ship also has a rock climbing wall and you will need closed toe shoes for that as well.

  7. Spend some time on the ship while it is port. Most people will get off the ship while it is in port, making lines for the water slides and the flowrider much shorter. Just make sure to check what time these attractions will be in operation while at port, as they don’t usually operate the entire time.

  8. Get off the ship early at Castaway Cay so that you can get a good spot near the pool or on the beach. We got off the ship at 10:00am and there was plenty of space still available. We are able to have our choice of loungers by the pool and in the pool. When we left a couple of hours later, a lot of people were just getting off the ship.

  9. Arrive early at the port so that you can enjoy as much time on the ship as possible. After all you are only there for 3 nights. Boarding through Miami is extremely streamlined and you should be able to get on board by 11:30.

  10. Don’t rush off the ship at the end of the cruise. As this is a short cruise, many people do self roll off at the end of the cruise and the line is extremely long to get off the ship. Instead we recommend sleeping as late as possible and leaving your cabin at the latest possible time, which is 8:00am. Have a leisurely breakfast and then got off the ship around 8:45 or so. The crowds will have dispersed and hopefully so will most of the Miami traffic by the time you leave the terminal.

These 10 tips will ensure that you have a great time on the Navigator of the Seas!
