It’s important during the developing years for parents to do activities with their children. But where to go and what to do? Mommy and me classes are a great way to spend time with your own child and socialize with other parents – in fact, some of my own child’s first friendships came from mommy and me classes together.
American Red Cross Parent Participation Swimming
RDV Athletic Club
This swimming program, which is flexible to adjust for your child’s age and skill level, teaches them both basic water safety and beginning swimming. Children learn about how to ask before entering the pool, how to do so safely, what to do if they fall in, and other important lessons. There is also singing and parent-child bonding time.

Creative Arts from the Heart
Creative Arts from the Heart offers classes for newborns and for toddlers, where families can explore music and dance together. Each class features music, and younger children will play movement and peek-a-boo games with their children, while toddlers will start exploring making their own music with rhythm sticks, rattles, and drums.

Ages: Newborn-18 months and 16 months to 3.5 years
Grow and Sing Studios
Kindermusik programs are age-appropriate programs where different skills – rhythm and movement, instruments, even literacy, when stories are read to the children. Younger children will be encouraged to start moving with the music and all children will benefit from being exposed to a wide range of genres of music, instead of just the same old kids music that you’re expecting. Grow and Sing Studios sometimes offers free preview classes.

Ages: Newborn – 18 months, 18 months-three years, three-five. Also a newborn-seven family class
Orlando Science Center
Each 45 minute workshop is led by a museum educator, and explores a scientific topic to engage both children and parents. The program uses songs, stories, experiments, movement, and other methods to help children learn and have fun at the same time. Does this program include a snack? I don’t know, but it should. Snacks and science.

Mommy and Me
Sonya Flex Academy
This movement class works with young children, and encourages them to explore movement. Each lesson includes development of gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, balance, and strength. Classes use a variety of dance and gymnastics equipment in working with the children.

Mommy and Me Circle Time
First United Methodist Church of Orlando
This weekly get-together includes story time, songs, and free play for the kids in a welcoming environment. Meant to provide a supportive and welcoming community for both parents and children, moms can support each other as they go through the challenges of raising a new child.

The Jungle MMA & Fitness
This unique kickboxing class not only teaches moms kickboxing technique, but it also encourages fitness in both parents and children. Kids and parents will exercise together, and take part in interactive drills that they can do together.

All Kids Spanish
This Spanish class, designed to teach younger children, focuses on repetition and simple sentences. These classes are high-energy and involve both parent and child in an immersive environment. Twinkle Tots Dance with Me
Footworks Dance Studio
This class is meant as an introduction to dance, where students learn the basic elements while working with an adult. Students will play games, sing songs, and learn to dance. The program also encourages children to become more familiar with the studio environment, leading to them being able to take classes on their own. There is a required outfit for children.

You and Me Gymnastics
This is a class for a parent (or older sibling, grandparent, etc) and child to play together. Each 50 minute class helps children develop gross motor skills, coordination, focus, and good fitness habits. Children will also interact with each other and learn to cooperate and play together.
